Stek

Stek offers excellent childcare at beautiful locations in the centre of Amsterdam. We offer childcare for children between the ages of 0 and 4 years old. We are open five days a week from 8 am to 6 pm.
Stek has four nurseries on three locations, two on the edge of the Oosterpark, one near the Munt, and one in Science Park (Watergraafsmeer). All our nurseries have a beautiful large garden where the children can run around, ride bicycles and play. Because this is quite unique in Amsterdam, we try to allow the children to play outside as much as possible.

Stek was established in 1981 as the in-house childcare facility for employees working at the University of Amsterdam. In 2005, Stek privatized and since then the childcare facility is no longer just for the employees of the University of Amsterdam. Everyone is more than welcome at our nurseries. From 1 January 2010 Stek is entered into a merger with KinderRijk, a child care organization in Amstelveen. It is an administrative merger where Stek is transformed into a BV and thus become part of the KinderRijk Group.

Stek has a long history and considerable experience in supervising, encouraging, and caring for children. The children are cared for in groups. Each group is led by two nursery staff members a day. The nursery staff members at Stek have a great deal of experience and really enjoy working with children. We speak Dutch at the nurseries, but for quite a few children Dutch is their second language. Together with our nursery staff we have developed an extensive pedagogical policy, which we evaluate and discuss regularly. Each year, our nursery staff takes a course in First Aid for children. But of course, our main task is just making sure that the children have a really great day and look forward to returning again soon.
