Organisation
Stek offers full-time nursery care for children from the age of six weeks to four years old. Originally established as the in-house childcare facility for the University of Amsterdam. In 2005, Stek privatized and since then the childcare facility is no longer just for the employees of the University of Amsterdam. Everyone is more than welcome at our nurseries. From 1 January 2010 Stek is entered into a merger with KinderRijk, a child care organization in Amstelveen. It is an administrative merger where Stek is transformed into a BV and thus become part of the KinderRijk Group.
Parents consider our childcare to be of a high quality. Our policy, parent participation and the design of our nurseries all contribute to the quality level of our nurseries. This website will provides general information about our childcare and nurseries.
Stek has four nurseries on three business locations: De Kleine Gast, the Mauritskade (De Vlieger / Titaantjes) and De Waterlelie.
Locations
Stek has next to the nurseries another location: the Main Office which is situated at the headquarter of KinderRijk. The main office consists of the managing director Stek, secretary and our planner. This is where we manage the waiting list, draw up contracts, calculate the parent contributions and ensure that the children are placed etc. The nurseries are managed by the nursery managers, who are responsible for their own team of nursery staff members and the actual nursery care. Stek employs approx. 70 people in total.
Nursery places
Stek manages a total of 200 nursery places in 17 groups. There are three types of groups: baby groups (from 6 weeks to 24 months), toddler groups (from 22 months to 4 years) and vertical groups (from 6 weeks to 4 years). There are no more than nine children in the baby groups, fourteen in the toddler groups and twelve in the vertical groups.
